Mr. X has been running a trustworthy business for the last 6 years. He is quite busy to run day to day operations of his well-known and reputed company. His business has a good client base and a positive cash flow which is growing year on year. All social media platforms are up-to-date and have a big social media following. The number of returning clients ratio is very good. So the company is growing day and night and Mr. X is really happy and enjoying his entrepreneurial journey. It’s like a dream come true for him.
On the other hand, Mr. Y has been running a business for the last 10 years. His business is running with some ups and downs. Today when he was in a meeting with a new prospect, the prospect wasn’t sure about his professional credentials. He thought that his business couldn’t be that old, which he was claiming during the meeting. The prospect already researched this provider before the meeting and he was not able to find some solid proof about Mr. Y’s business. His social media was showing very few posts, also when he checked the first post of their social media it was only 3 years old. So the new prospect got a strong feeling that this company may have an experience of about 3 to 5 years, while in actuality the company was 10 years old!
Two different businesses and two different stories. One business is leveraging its social media to grow exponentially while the other business is facing issues due to its social media presence. Sounds familiar?
In this type of scenario, we can not blame the prospects/clients that they are thinking like this. It’s our fault that they are thinking like this. If our social media was in order from the very first day of the beginning of our business then the scenario would be different. Since we have not managed our social media well, that is why people are underestimating us now!
Think if we have posted 1 post every day in the last 10 years then today our social media should show about 3650 posts.
But if we have posted 1 post weekly in the last 10 years then today our social media should show about 520 posts.
And if we have posted 1 post monthly in the last 10 years then today our social media should show about 120 posts.
While in actuality Mr. Y’s social media was showing less than 100 posts. Enough footprints weren’t there to follow.
Since our prospects do not know us personally, so they have only social media to know about us. Now if our social media is badly handled then our prospects would get a bad impression about our business. So if we want to leave a long-lasting experience then we have to be serious about our social media and we have to post regularly to leave our footprints. So if you are serious about your business then you must think about this and you must implement this as soon as possible.
